About the event
Learn to knit is a Beginner gathering where you will be able to learn such things as how to cast on stitches, how to knit and purl. How to read a pattern etc.
We will practice these basic techniques together so that you are prepared for your first knitting project and can then join our Stitch & Story gatherings.
Please bring one set of needles and some scrap yarn. Medium DK weight yarn or Worsted is a good weight to learn with. Size 4mm to 6mm needle size will be best. Make sure you needles are not too long or you can bring a circular needle.
We will learn some of the very basics in this gathering so that you can practice your tension and techniques at home with confidence.
Your first project will be to create a basic square in purl, knit and stocking stitch so that you can see what these stitches look like and know how to use them.
It is not important to use expensive yarn or needles at this point. You just need to have a little to practice with.
